Terms & Conditions of Sale
These terms explain how vehicle sales, deposits, delivery, warranty options, disclosed faults and handover are handled by Car Sales & Valeting.
1. Vehicle descriptions
Vehicle adverts, descriptions, mileage, specification and condition notes are prepared carefully using the information available at the time of advertising. Customers should check all details that are important to them before purchase.
2. Viewing, inspection and test drive
Customers are encouraged to view the vehicle, inspect it, ask questions and arrange any independent inspection before purchase. Where a vehicle is purchased after viewing or inspection, the customer confirms they have had a reasonable opportunity to check the vehicle before completing the sale.
3. Disclosed faults and trade clearance vehicles
Some vehicles may be sold with disclosed faults, as trade clearance, spares/repairs, part-exchange clearance or with specific condition notes. Where faults are disclosed before sale and recorded on the invoice, advert, messages or handover paperwork, the customer confirms they understood the vehicle was purchased with those disclosed issues.
4. Deposits
A deposit may be required to reserve a vehicle. Deposits are normally used to remove the vehicle from sale and hold it for the customer. Deposit terms, holding period and refund position should be agreed in writing at the time the deposit is paid.
5. Payment and ownership
Full cleared payment must be received before the vehicle is released. Ownership and risk pass to the customer once payment is complete and the vehicle is collected or delivered, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
6. Delivery
Delivery is charged at £2 per mile unless otherwise agreed. Delivery cost, timing and handover arrangements should be confirmed before delivery. Customers should check the vehicle on arrival and notify us immediately of any delivery-related concern.
7. Warranty options
Warranty options may be available through Warranty First, including Ignition/Essential, Dynamic and Premier cover. Warranty availability, cover level, claim limits and exclusions depend on the warranty provider’s terms, the vehicle’s age, mileage and eligibility. Warranty cover is separate from any non-excludable statutory rights.
8. Wear and tear
Used vehicles may show age-related wear, previous repairs, cosmetic marks and general wear consistent with age, mileage and use. Normal used-car wear and tear is not the same as a new fault unless confirmed otherwise.
9. Customer responsibilities after purchase
After purchase, the customer is responsible for insurance, tax, fuel, maintenance, servicing, MOT compliance where applicable, safe use and any repairs or running costs not covered by warranty or agreed in writing.
10. Complaints and communication
Any issue should be reported in writing as soon as possible with supporting photos, videos, diagnostic reports or garage evidence where relevant. We will review the information provided and respond based on the sale terms, vehicle condition, disclosed information and applicable law.
11. Legal rights
Nothing in these terms is intended to remove, restrict or exclude any legal rights that cannot legally be excluded. If any term is found not to apply, the remaining terms continue to apply where lawful.
